This organic Peppermint essential oil is steam distilled from the crisp green leaves of the Mentha x piperita plant, ethically sourced from the fields of the United Stated. Peppermint essential oil has the aroma of the live plant – wonderfully fresh, cool, green-herbaceous, strongly minty with a powerful menthol and sweet balsamic undertone.

True Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) is thought to be a hybrid from two other species of Mentha: Watermint (Mentha aquatica) and Spearmint (Mentha spicata) and was first described by Carl Linneaus in 1753.

The main constituent of Peppermint is Menthol, a potent compound which unto itself causes a quick physical response when inhaled or applied to the skin. It produces a sensation of coolness which the body counteracts by increasing blood flow to the area, producing a warm effect. Given the high Menthol content found in our Peppermint oil, it insures the best therapeutic outcome.
